This is a poem I wrote about 14 years ago. I was digging up some of my old poems and I sent this one off to my Mom for some punctuation and editing. She returned it to me with a note that let me know there is now a book series with the same title.
Since I sat on this poem for ages, I am now being forced to change the name from Silly Sally Wally Drew to Silly __???___ Wally Drew. My original title had the main name as Shally and not Sally. I used Shally originally because the poem was inspired by my sister Shalice. I changed it to Sally during one of the revisions over the years. So, my poem is now titled as it was originally... Silly Shally Wally Drew"...
Silly Shally Wally Drew
- Hahni Jones
Silly Shally Wally Drew.
Could not find the number two.
She searched and searched and could not find
A two, of any kind.
Anything that was a pair,
Suddenly was not there.
"I can not find my other shoe!"
Shouted Silly Shally Wally Drew.
I can only find one blue sock.
It's left me in quite a shock.
My poor dog has lost an ear,
I'm certain it's quite hard to hear.
I don't seem to have two eyes,
For I can not find two butterflies.
It looks like I've lost my right arm.
And the second hand on my morning alarm.
My one leg, I have to say,
Mysteriously, has gone away!
I'm quite sure now, that my eye truly is not there.
You see, people have begun to stare.
Oh please, oh please I beg of you,
Help me find the number two!
